Under the No Surprises Act, health care providers need to give patients who do not have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill (or “Good Faith Estimate”) for medical and mental health services.
-You have the right to get a Good Faith Estimate, which shows the expected total cost of any non-emergency services, including therapy sessions and related fees.
-You can request this estimate when you schedule your appointment, and you can ask to receive it in writing at any time before your session.
-The estimate is for information only. It does not mean you are required to pay for a certain number of sessions.
-The estimate does not include unexpected costs that may come up during treatment, such as longer or extra sessions. If your treatment plan changes, we will update your estimate.
-If your bill is $400 or more higher than your Good Faith Estimate, you have the right to question or dispute it.
-Please save a copy of your Good Faith Estimate for your records.
